Barcelona's new president John Laprota has said he will try to keep Lionel Messi part of the club.
John Liprota has been elected president of Spanish football club Barcelona with more than 54% of the vote.John Liprota and Messi have known each other for a long time, having previously been president of the club from 2003 to 2010.
The president of Barcelona said that Lionel Messi voted in the election and it shows how much he loves the Barcelona club.
He also said that Messi made his debut for Barcelona's youth team 20 years ago today, and the fact that the world's best footballer came to vote today is a testament to his love for the club.
Speaking at a press conference Barcelona's new president John Laprota said "I hope Lionel Messi stays with the club and that's what we all want," he said.
